About our farm

Heronsdale farm is a family run farm, situated near the small village of Waldron in East Sussex.

Having grown up ourselves running wild around the place, we fell in love with our home, raising our own families here, and have decided that everyone should experience camping in our beautiful countryside.

Like any farm, there is a lot of heavy machinery needed, so whilst we are happy to welcome you to our farm to stay, we do ask that you and your family stay clear of our working operations, and to keep your dogs on leads when walking on the footpaths and entering any fields with livestock.

OUR FACILITIES

Our facilities are basic, but you will find everything you need here for a simple but comfortable camping experience.

We have basic compost toilet and hot shower facilities, hot water washing up facilities, fresh running drinking water, and waste disposal and recycling.

Campfires and BBQs are welcome on the site so long as they are raised off the ground. We have firepits for hire and crates of  wood and kindling which you can buy from the log store (cash or card using a QR code), so no need to worry about sourcing it.

The local area

The camping site is set in three acres of field, most of which is flat, and has a small wooded area to make camps in.

A peaceful site with wonderful views, the farm is in the DEFRA stewardship scheme and this has led to a massive increase in the number of wild species of both fauna and flora. There are excellent walks to the  local village with a sixteenth century pub.

“Excellent camp site, I shouldn't be writing this to keep it secret. It is an extremely basic place, not for the exigent. But if you enjoy spartan life for one night or two this is the place for you. Bring everything except for water.”

"Heronsdale Farm Campsite is a little treasure, less than two hours from London.  It is close to many interesting attractions, yet feels like it sits in the middle of nowhere.  The grounds are spacious and can easily accommodate the maximum number of campers allowed.  It is a working farm owned by the same family for almost 100 years – they are friendly, kind and very hospitable.  If you like a chat, they will drop by or alternatively, leave you in peace if you prefer.

The grounds are a  mix of open fields with views and more protected spots.  The farm also has a lovely walk through a wood filled with bluebells and a little stream.  We spotted many buzzards and other interesting birds – a great spot for ornithologists.

The campsite is dog friendly and firepits are provided.  Top-ups of firewood are offered daily at very reasonable prices.

The beach is about 30 minutes away.  Treat yourself to a few days in the Sussex countryside."

“Really relaxing. A quiet peaceful site with basic facilities. Hot showers and the composting toilet was ok. Very reasonable rates. Beautiful countryside n short walk to local pub. Def recommend. Would return.”
